Do You Know The Law Regarding

Workplace Violence?

Workplace Violence is a very real and serious hazard that has now been documented to exist in many workplaces and work settings across a wide spectrum of industries.

Companies that have repeated incidents of workplace violence tend to have higher worker turnover and lower worker satisfaction and retention statistics, not to mention experiencing loss of reputation and brand favor if a workplace violence incident becomes high-profile and publicized.

OLS Consulting Group Inc. helps client organizations to avoid creating circumstances that lead to workplace violence, as well as mitigate incidents should they happen in the workplace.  We also help clients recover quickly to full operations after a workplace violence incident has happened, and provide post-incident analytics and liability mitigation support.

Clients benefit greatly from being pro-active and engaging OLS Consulting Group Inc. to provide Workplace Violence Safety Training.

Workplace Violence Safety Training

This program addresses Section 27 of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code. An employer must instruct workers on the hazard of workplace harassment and violence, how to recognize the signs of danger, what to do about it, and how to report it. (OHS Code, Part 27, s.391 - "An employer must ensure that workers are trained in...(c) the appropriate response to violence...)

Violence in the workplace could put workers at risk of physical and/or psychological harm.  Workplace violence can include:

- Physical attack or aggression (e.g. hitting, shoving, pushing or kicking a worker, throwing an object at a worker, grabbing a worker, kicking an object the worker is standing on, etc.)

- Threatening behavior (e.g. shaking a fist in a worker's face, wielding a weapon at work, trying to hit a worker, trying to run down a worker using a vehicle, or throwing objects)

- Verbal or written threats (e.g. verbally threatening to attack a worker, leaving threatening notes or sending threatening emails to express an intent to inflict harm on a worker)

**Violence is a workplace hazard. It must be addressed during a hazard assessment, and the appropriate training be provided before a worker begins work in the workplace.  This is mandatory and applicable to all industries.**

Our Workplace Violence Safety Training program addresses the employer requirement of providing workers with the instruction on how to appropriately respond to workplace violence.
